本課程主要包括三部分：(1)由授課教師介紹植物(在形態、構造和生理上)如何適應不同環境；(2)配合授課內容，教授學生如何量化上述反應，並提供相關參考文獻(3)指導學生利用課程中所介紹內容及量化方法，到野外觀察或參考文獻後，發現問題、提出假說、設計相關實驗以驗證假說。主要授課內容涵蓋五大主題: Microclimates, Leaf energy budget, Plant water economy, Plant carbon acquisition and utilization, and Stable isotopes in biological studies。
I. Microclimates (3週次)

II. How plants adapt and acclimate to the environment (9 週次)

III. Integrating Technologies for Ecological Research (3週次)
